Experience the fun of Ranch Trail through a fun filled clinic with APHA and AQHA Professional Horseman Crysta Brown. Designed to cater to riders having their first go at Ranch Trail. And our Open Riding Play Day designed to allow riders to practice and learn together in a positive environment.

Ranch Trail tests a horse's ability to calmly and confidently negotiate obstacles commonly found in ranch work. The class rewards a horse that performs each obstacle with accuracy, willingness, and forward movement while maintaining good manners and practical, efficient way of going.
What is “Ranch Trail”?
Obstacles may see on course
Gate: Open, pass through, and close a gate without letting go, demonstrating control and accuracy.
Bridge: Cross a bridge calmly and confidently without hesitation.
Walk-Overs: Step over a series of poles at the walk with rhythm and precision.
Jog-Overs: Jog over evenly spaced poles while maintaining cadence and balance.
Lope-Overs: Lope over poles while staying straight, balanced, and maintaining the correct stride.
Back Through: Back the horse through an L-shape, straight chute, or other pattern with accuracy and softness.
Side Pass: Move the horse laterally over or alongside a pole while remaining straight and controlled.
Drag: Pull a log, tarp, or other object to simulate ranch work while maintaining composure.
Mailbox: Approach and retrieve or replace an item from a mailbox, demonstrating patience and responsiveness.
Slicker or Raincoat: Pick up, put on, or carry a slicker to show the horse accepts unusual movement.
Rope Handling: Carry or swing a rope, or rope a dummy steer, showing the horse remains relaxed.
Ground Tie: Dismount and leave the horse standing quietly while completing a simple task.
Serpentine: Navigate a winding path around markers with smooth bends and consistent rhythm.
Safety is the number one priority.
Please wear a helmet at all times while on a horse.
Please set your horse up for success and use your best judgement to keep yourself and your horse safe.
